Application Newsletter - Laser Marking Tools

What will they think of next?

Sawsalls are a favorite tool for those who like to quickly and easily cut through wood, plastics, metal, pipes and even wood with nails in it. Sawsalls are perfect for those hard to reach places, when a circular saw, chop saw, table saw or even a hand saw just won’t do the trick. Need to get under a sink to cut a pipe in half while remodeling a bathroom? Maybe you need to cut out a new window opening from T1-11 siding already hung in place. Having recently remodeled my entire house, I have spent hours using my Sawsall for those and other projects. However, I can honestly say that the one thing my tool didn’t have going for it was a picture of my kids laser marked onto the handle!

Laser Marking Plastic Application: Laser Photonics’ application engineers received a customers’ a reciprocating Sawsall, with a plastic handle to be processed. The customer wanted a photo of their children to be marked on the plastic handle. Using a Laser Photonics FiberTower™ Series marking system, equipped with a pulsed (1064nm, 1mJ @ 20kHz) high-powered, energy efficient fiber laser, scanning head and 160mm focusing lens, the FiberTower™, in one pass surface marked the sample in 95.78 seconds at a speed of 180” per second.

The FiberTower™ Series equipment is safe, compact, and service-free, designed to meet individual marking needs with the ability to mark a wide variety of materials using many different techniques including Direct Parts Marking (DPM) of alphanumeric, logos, serial numbers, part numbers, lot and date codes, schematics, graphics, deep engraving and more. It can be delivered as a stand-alone system that can be integrated into any production line or with full turnkey workstations.
