Laser Photonics LLC Awarded Large High Power Fiber Laser Contract from U.S. Government

Laser Photonics, the industry leader in developing high-tech Fiber and Co2 laser systems for laser cutting, marking and engraving applications, has won a bid from a defense sector of the United States government to purchase their first high powered fiber laser cutting system.
Seeking a way to cut armor plating up to 1” thick, the government offered a contract to the company with the best overall solution. Laser Photonics recommended that the government purchase the Titan FLS, a high powered fiber laser cutting system. The defense branch accepted the bid and awarded Laser Photonics the contract.
The Titan FLS uses the latest in high power fiber laser technology. It contains a 2 x 4 meter table with a 5kW Fiber laser module. The Titan FLS is primary used for cutting highly reflective metals such as: stainless steel, aluminum, copper and brass. These systems are unique due to the benefits of using a fiber laser combined with a state-of-the-art motion system and the ease of use of the software.
Systems containing fiber lasers have been gaining popularity over conventional Co2 laser systems for sheet metal cutting in the past few years mainly to the numerous benefits fiber lasers offer including higher beam quality, faster cutting speeds and less energy consumption. Fiber laser systems overall are cost saving machines. In every area from maintenance costs, to consumable gas costs, to downtime costs, fiber lasers save money. Using the Titan FLS, the operating costs alone will save the U.S. government over $120,000 a year.
“We are pleased the U.S. government selected the Titan FLS and that they have decided to more towards the more efficient and cost effective manufacturing that fiber lasers provide,” said Ryan Semmer, Product Marketing Manager for Laser Photonics. “Having the U.S. government recognize the benefits of our fiber lasers and our systems is only the beginning. Production of the Titan FLS has already begun and once the system is delivered, we are forecasting a surge in high power fiber laser system bids and contracts from other branches of the U.S. government.”
Laser Photonics is the industry leader in developing high-tech Fiber and CO2 laser marking, cutting and engraving systems for a variety of industries such as; aerospace, automotive, medical, solar semiconductor etc. We exceed in manufacturing high quality, performance driven turnkey solutions for these and many other industries.
